Pierre & François Lamoureux - Filmmakers and Music Producers

3D Film Projects

We currently have three 3D films in production. All three films are nearly completed. Release dates will be announced shortly. Special preview links to the films and promotional trailers will be posted on this page in the near future.

Pat Metheny's "The Orchestrion Project" was filmed over a two day period in November 2010 at an abandoned church formally known as the St. Elias Church, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. There was no audience. It was more of a filmed and wonderfully lit studio recording not unlike what we had done with the Cowboy Junkies a few years back, except in 3D. We used three rigs to capture the most incredible performances. Several takes were recorded and filmed until Pat was happy with the music. It was an outstanding session for all of us present.

This was our first 3D film and although we had been preparing for 3D for quite some time, it was learning experience. We had an incredible team working with us including Steve Rodby as co-producer. Benoit Beaulieu was the stereographer and the directors of photography were Eugene O'Connor and Brian O'Carroll. Eugene also designed the lighting which was created for this unique event. Patrick Tessier contributed with his LED expertise and Johnny McCullagh also contributed to the lighting design. Pete Karam and David Oakes recorded the audio. David Esler was the production designer. Post-production work was done at Vision Globale and the audio was mixed at Ton of Bricks Studios in Montreal.

This project would have been impossible without the support of all those who contributed but we need to especially mention the contributions of Jacques Lamontagne from Département Caméra, Denis Paquette from Cinépool, Doug Filomena from The Lighting Syndicate, Ray Fabi at Ton of Bricks Studios, Mathieu Lefebvre at Vision Globale and Denis Tancrede.

The Orchestrion Project will be released in cinemas worldwide in early 2012. Dates and locations should be announced soon.

Joe Satriani's "Satchurated" was filmed at Metropolis in Montreal, Canada in December 2010. For this film, we had ten camera positions. Five of them were 3D positions and the other five were HD positions. There show was sold out with 1,800 fans who were given a very generous 2 hour and 20 minute concert.

It was less than a month since we had filmed "The Orchestrion Project" and we assembled much of the same team. Again, Jacques Lamontagne from Département Caméra, Denis Paquette from Cinépool and Mathieu Lefebvre from Vision Globale played a big role in making this film a reality. Ian Donald was our line producer. Eugene O'Connor flew in from London and as ever, was our trust director of photography. Benoit Beaulieu was the stereogrpaher. Denis Normandeau was the recording engineer and Live Wire Remote was our audio truck.

We edited two different versions of this film, one for 3D version and a different cut for 2D. Video post-production work was done at Vision Globale in Montreal. Yves Dion edited the film in 3D and Martin Julien edited the film in 2D. Mike Fraser mixed the audio at Fantasy Studios in Berkley.

Joe and his band were just outstanding as was the audience. Joe specifically chose Montreal because the venue was a standing venue and by reputation, the Montreal crowds are quite exciting to play for. This all makes for a wonderful concert film experiene.

"Satchurated" will be released in cinemas worldwide this coming March. Dates will be announced sson.

Movie poster layout.

Last October, a special "approval" screening was held at Dolby Labs in San Francisco. Below is a photo from that special event where Joe and his bandmates screened their performance in 3D for the very first time. Present were Allen Whitman (bass) and Jeff Campitelli (drums) as well as Mick Brigden, Joe's manager. Pierre (co-direcotor) is sitting to Joe's left. Thank you to Craig Eggers and Diana Wu of Dolby Labs for their support on this wonderful endeavour.

"Flamenco Hoy" - Inspired to become the "Riverdance of flamenco", "Flamenco Hoy de Carlos Saura" is starting a world tour in Moscow next month. The show will be touring North America during the summer of 2012. The challenge in filming a show like Flamenco Hoy is to capture full body movements of a dozen dancers yet still striving to show the intimacy and the sensuality of smaller movements and gestures. We also had to capture an outstanding group of singers and musicians who performed on stage, sometimes embedded within the dancers. It's a spectacular show created by Oscar-winning director Carlos Saura.

"Flamenco Hoy" was filmed in San Sebastian, Spain on June 25th, 2011. The Kursaal Auditorio was the venue and there was an audience of about 1000 spectactors.

We got all of our 3D equipment from Outside Broadcast in Belgium. They are our supplier of choice in Europe and we've worked with Timo Koch's team several times over the last ten years for films such as "Rush Snakes & Arrows Live", "Rush R30", "Branford Marsalis Coltrane's A Love Supreme", "The Stray Cats Rumble in Brixton" and "Counting Crows Live in Amsterdam". Outside Broadcast was invaluable to the making of this project. Gavin Pigott was our line producer. Eugene O'Connor was the director of photography. Erwin Van Der Stappen was the stereographer. Denis Normandeau was the recording engineer and we used the LocSon audio truck. Simon Marre and les productions Jack Febus were our co-production partners from France. Once again, the team was wonderful.

"Flamenco Hoy" is being edited by Yves Dion and mixed by Denis Normandeau at Studios BeeBop. 3D post-production is being done at Vision Globale in Montreal. The contributions of Erick Villeneuve (Studios BeeBop) and Mathieu Lefebvre (Vision Globale) cannot be overstated.

Cinema release dates and broadcast details will be announced shortly.
